“All God’s children need a good book if they are solo traveling” and “Balconies and bottles of wine” are two pieces that represent the self-explanatory advice that I can provide to others based on my travels.

Sometimes all you need is a good book to keep you company and it helps prevent you from obsessively people-watching at a cafe.

My unsolicited recommendations are: “All God’s Children Need Traveling Shoes” by Maya Angelou, “From Scratch” by Tembi Locke, and “An American Marriage” by Tayari Jones. But if you’re feeling extra adventurous then you should pick a book in the city or country you are traveling to.

If you are not a reader or need a vacation from reading then you can always grab a cheap bottle of wine and take in the views. So if nothing else you can pack a good book and some wine and then figure the rest out when you get there. Besides, if you are flying Ryanair that might be the best you can ask for.
